The thing is, Tomahawks are navy-based weapons. Since Ukraine does not have a navy with NATO launchers, they need dedicated ground launchers for this. 

Meaning it will take probably half a year to transfer the new launchers and train Ukrainian crew in how to operate them. 

However, there are other types of cruise missiles very similar to the Tomahawk that are launched from F16s fighters which the US could donate and Ukraine could use immideately.

Use every single one to blow up refinerys deep in Russia. Its pound for pound the most damage you can do. It fucks their economy sideways threatens their ability to manafacture, transport and fuel military gear, and if they ration or run out its one of the few ways to make Russians want the war to be over in a non "it is what it is" way.

US provides intelligence to Ukraine which refineries aren't covered (as well as the others) by air defense, so it hits them with their own drones. Finally, so few remain that Russia concentrates Air Defenses and there are no gaps.  Then 20 Tomowawks punch through to those remaining operational in European Russia.

Germany has about 120 Taurus cruise missiles. If the US is sending Tomahawk, maybe finally Germany will send half of their Taurus, doubling the 50 Tomahawks. In the past, like with the MBTs, Germany always waited on the US before sending weapon systems.

Tomahawk cannot carry nuclear warheads.

That was the TLAM-N, a specific variant which was withdrawn from use and retired 35 years ago, and the actual missiles were physically scrapped \~15 years ago because they were never going to get used, and they had storage and overhaul costs which weren't worth paying given that they weren't going to get used.

Therefore the only remaining Russian objection is that these missiles can reach targets that they care about.

This objection is one which can be answered with a quote from Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Arthur Harris without alteration:-

There have been surface launchers in the past, both wheeled and naval box launchers. And if they're donated I'm sure Ukraine would build a launcher if they needed. Or strap it to some plane with duct tape if they have to. But the key here is speed. The benefit of Tomahawk is that it's ready. If Ukraine needs to spend 6 months adapting something then a lot of the benefit of it is gone. I hope this talk even started because the US has an idea of some old box launcher they could also donate. Otherwise it feels like it would take quite a lot of time to get from donation to launch.

Cruise missiles follow terrain and do not fly in straight lines. Ukraine would also not be able to launch them from their border, they're not stupid.

Sure, Tomahawks are faster, more powerful, and more accurate. But Ukraine is already putting a significant dent in Russian targets with what it has. Before tomahawks are delivered, Ukraine will have their domestic long range cruise missile production up and running and many of those targets will be gone. 

Still, nice testing of Russia's reaction. The way they're squealing, they're really afraid of anything that is going fast over long distances because so much of their air defense is gone.
